Training Tips - July 2016

Welcome to our July 2016 collection of training tips, which were published on our Instagram, Facebook and Twitter accounts.

Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions.

Balance

Balance is managed by the body receiving sensory data from your muscles and nerves.

Unfortunately as we age, our body's sensory information becomes damaged and our ability to balance diminishes.

No matter what our age, we should work on improving our balance.

Basic every day monotonous tasks, such as brushing your teeth and combing your hair, can be completed standing on one leg. This will improve your balance and also mental agility.

Flexibility

Multi-tasking is everywhere these days and why not improve your flexibility while you're watching your favourite TV show.

There are many ways to do static stretching while watching TV so I'll only list a few here. An internet search will provide a long list of other examples.

1. Stand behind the couch using it for balance and hold your foot whilst raising your straightened leg.

2. Sit on the couch and hold your foot whilst straightening your leg.

3. Do a pancake/butterfly stretch by drawing your feet close to your body, soles touching, hold your ankles and pushing your knees down to the couch with your elbows.
